Our Goals The ÖKL acts as
- platform for discussion, coordination and information
- link between research, administration and practice
- catalyst for the implementation of new ideas and projects
Our main goals are
- to encourage and further develop innovative practices and their implementation in the agricultural sector and rural areas
- to ensure and improve the cost-efficiency and functionality of farm-houses and barns
- to coordinate between the needs of modern agricultural technology and the sustainable development of rural areas
- to preserve cultural landscapes taking into account a sustainable regional planning and ecology in general
- to increase competitiveness and the quality of life in rural family business
- to support authorities in their decisions making power (ministries, farmers, consultants, experts etc.)
Structure and Members
The ÖKL was founded in 1947 as a non-profit-organization with its headquarter in Vienna.
Members are
- Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management
- as well as representatves from other Federal Ministries
- governments of the Federal States of Austria
- university institutes and Federal Institutions
- Chamber of Commerce and representations of interest
- Social Security Administraion for farmers and occupational safety services
- schools specialized in agriculture
- companies dealing with the manufacturing and distribution of tractors and agricultural machinery
- farms
- municipal governments
- private individuals
